Austin Free Practice One appearance for Jolyon this Friday

Jolyon Palmer will get behind the wheel of the Lotus F1 Team E23 Hybrid once more this Friday (October 23), as he participates in Free Practice One ahead of the United States Grand Prix in Austin. The 24-year-old will be making his 11th appearance in the opening session of a Grand Prix weekend, as part of his role as Third and Reserve Driver for the Enstone-based outfit.

The 2014 GP2 Champion revealed the news by tweeting on Thursday, saying: "Track walk done, prep ongoing...Enjoying Texas so far. Now can the rain please stay away so I can get some laps in tomorrow for once! #USGP".

The Southwater driver will be hoping for more track time than his last FP1 appearance, with an overnight diesel spillage at Sochi in Russia limited his running to just three timed laps around the Olympic Park circuit. The on-track action was delayed by 30 minutes as marshals attempted to remove the fluid but even once cars were allowed to join the circuit, track conditions failed to significantly improve and no representative times were set.

The Circuit of the Americas has become a favoured destination for the F1 community with the demanding 3.427-mile Texas track proving a major hit with the drivers. It will be Jolyon's first outing on the undulating, 20-turn circuit, which is hosting its fourth ever Formula One race this year.

Jolyon will compete in a number of further FP1 sessions in the 2015 season, which will be confirmed at a later date.

Free Practice One in the United States will begin at 16:00 UK time on October 23. You can follow all the action on Sky Sports F1 channel from 15:45 and with updates on Jolyon's official website.
