Busy weekend for Jolyon in glamorous Monaco

Jolyon Palmer heads to the famous streets of Monte-Carlo as part of his role as Lotus F1 Team Third and Reserve Driver for this weekend's (21-24 May) Monaco Grand Prix, the jewel in the Formula One calendar.

The 24-year-old will not be driving the E23 Hybrid in Thursday's Free Practice but will be busy throughout the weekend with commentary duties for Sky F1 in Free Practice Two and the GP2 Series across Friday and Saturday. He will also carry out his regular duties for Lotus F1 team which include media commitments and participation in tyre and set-up meetings.

Monaco Gp2The legendary principality, located on the French Riviera, holds happy memories for Jolyon as he has won twice there, including his maiden GP2 Series victory in 2012. He also took the chequered flag in last year's chaotic feature race on his way to a record-breaking GP2 championship success that included twelve podium finishes and four wins.

The Southwater ace impressed in Barcelona last week, finishing in 13th position in Free Practice one ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix, before posting the fastest time on the second day of the official in-season test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, 0.417s clear of his rivals. He took over driving duties from team-mate Pastor Maldonado and completed 87 laps, whilst following a strict development plan for the team that included both aerodynamic and set-up work.

Jolyon said: "Monaco is always one of the best weekends of the year. Sadly I won't be running in practice but it is still a glamorous race to be at. I've got great memories of racing there, winning twice in GP2 in the last 3 years and I'm hoping we, as a team, can get a good result on Sunday."
