Home Grand Prix weekend beckons for Jolyon at Silverstone

Jolyon Palmer heads to the British Grand Prix (3-5 July) at Silverstone this weekend, where he will participate in Free Practice One for Lotus F1 Team for the fifth time this season. The 24-year-old will get behind the wheel of the E23 Hybrid in the 90-minute session as part of his role as Third and Reserve Driver for the Enstone-based outfit.

Jolyon has enjoyed plenty of success at Silverstone, claiming his maiden FIA Formula Two victory at the track in 2010 and finishing on the podium in last year's GP2 Series feature race, on the way to his record-breaking title win, by virtue of his second-place finish.

Alongside his driving commitments at Silverstone, Jolyon will be busy with off-track media commitments for Lotus F1 Team, including attending the Grand Prix Ball on Friday evening. He will also be commentating on the GP2 Series action at the Northamptonshire track. In the lead up to the weekend, Jolyon will take part in the annual Driver's Cricket Match on Tuesday (30 June), where famous faces from the world of sport and entertainment will contest a game at the Honourable Artillery Company in London.

Jolyon reacquainted himself with the E23 in Austria recently; firstly in the opening Friday practice session of the Grand Prix weekend (19-21 June) and subsequently in the post-Austrian Grand Prix in-season test. He performed strongly in both outings, finishing in 14th position in FP1 and posting the sixth quickest time, along with completing 110 laps, on the second and final day of the test at the Red Bull Ring.

The next three races will see Jolyon drive in Free Practice One for Lotus F1 Team, with the Hungarian Grand Prix (24-26 July) followed by the Belgian Grand Prix (21-23 August) at Spa. The European section of the Formula One calendar concludes with the Italian Grand Prix (4-6 September) at Monza.

Jolyon said: "Silverstone is one of my favourite races on the calendar so I am really excited to be driving in FP1 there this year. The track is awesome and the crowd is always the best of the year, which is a nice feeling for my home race! After testing in Austria, we hope to have made some improvements to score some more points this weekend."

Free Practice One begins at 10:00am UK time with all the action live on Sky Sports F1 Channel from 09:45am and updates on Jolyon's official website www.jolyonpalmer.com.
