Austria beckons for Jolyon as he resumes Free Practice duties

Jolyon Palmer heads to the Red Bull Ring for this weekend's (19-21 June) Austrian Grand Prix, where he will return to the cockpit of Lotus F1 Team's E23 Hybrid for Free Practice One on Friday. The 24-year-old will also take to the track the following week, on either Tuesday or Wednesday, as part of the two-day post Grand Prix in-season test (23-24 June) in Spielberg.

Jolyon will also be busy with his off-track media duties for Lotus F1 Team in Austria, which includes commentating on Saturday's Free Practice Three session for Sky Sports F1. He will also continue to provide analysis on the channel's GP2 Series coverage, which he has done since the start of the season.

The Lotus F1 Team Third and Reserve driver has not been in the car since he topped the timesheets during the second day of the first official in-season test, which was held in Barcelona last month. This followed a strong start to Jolyon's Formula One career, beginning with his Grand Prix weekend debut in China, before outings in Bahrain and Spain with the Southwater ace outpacing his team-mate Pastor Maldonado in the FP1 session at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

After Austria, Jolyon will drive in FP1 on the next four consecutive race weekends, including at his home race, the British Grand Prix (3-5 July), before competing in Hungary, Belgium and Italy.

Speaking ahead of the weekend, Jolyon said: "I'm really pleased to be driving in FP1 for the rest of the European season. I've been happy with my performances so far and the car is improving all the time so, after watching on at the last two events, it will be great to be driving again."

Free Practice One in Austria will begin at 09:00 on June 19. You can follow all the action on Sky F1's channel from 08:45 and with updates on Jolyon's official website.
