Hungarian Free Practice duty for Jolyon

Jolyon Palmer will drive for Lotus F1 Team in this Friday's (24 July) Free Practice One at the Hungarian Grand Prix. The 24-year-old will compete in the 90-minute session as part of his role as the Enstone-based squad's Third and Reserve Driver.

Jolyon has driven the E23 Hybrid, the team's 2015 car, in the last two Free Practice One sessions, at the Red Bull Ring in Austria and at his home race, the British Grand Prix held at Silverstone. He produced strong performances on both occassions, comparing very well with his team-mate Pastor Maldonado, and recording two 14th place finishes.

The 2.722-mile Hungaroring circuit, located just outside the Hungarian capital of Budapest, has been a fruitful hunting ground for Jolyon in past seasons. He took victory in the GP2 feature race at the circuit in 2013, and also enjoyed a great battle with then championship rival and current Sauber driver Felipe Nasr in last year's sprint and feature race. Jolyon brilliantly overtook the Brazilian in both races, claiming runner-up spot in the sprint event, in what was a decisive weekend in the title battle. Jolyon went on to secure the GP2 Series championship in record-breaking style.

After Hungary, Jolyon will drive on the next two consecutive race weekends, at the legendary Spa Francorchamps in Belgium (21 August) and the Autodromo Nazionale Monza in Italy (4 September) respectively.

Jolyon said: "The Hungaroring is one of my favourite tracks, where I've had some of my best races. I'm looking forward to driving the E23 Hybrid in Free Practice One around this great circuit. The team will be fighting for a positive weekend to get back in the points after Silverstone and achieving a good result before the summer break."

Free Practice One in Hungary will begin at 09:00 UK time on July 24. You can follow all the action on Sky F1's channel from 08:45 and with updates on Jolyon's official website.
