Busy home Grand Prix weekend for Jolyon

Jolyon Palmer enjoyed a packed home Grand Prix weekend (3-5 July) both on and off the track at Silverstone last week, as he took part in numerous media commitments alongside his driving duties for Lotus F1 Team.

The 24-year-old participated in Free Practice One at the Northamptonshire circuit, completing 26 laps of the Arena Grand Prix track finishing in 14th position. Prior to this, Jolyon had already been busy with media work, taking part in the annual Driver's Cricket Match on the Wednesday (1 July) before the Grand Prix weekend. Famous faces from the world of Formula One, Cricket and a host of celebrities played against a Lord Taverner's team, with the game umpired by legendary talkshow host, Sir Michael Parkinson.

Jolyon took part in the match alongside fellow F1 driver Will Stevens and former Toro Rosso man Jaime Alguersuari, as a host of historic F1 cars surrounded the pitch at the Honourable Artillery Company grounds in central London. Following the game, the Lotus F1 Team Third and Reserve Driver attended the Grand Prix Ball at the Hurlingham Club, where he joined British motorsport luminaries such as Sir Stirling Moss and Eddie Jordan.

Following his FP1 outing on the Friday, Jolyon attended a second Grand Prix Ball that evening, held at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire. More media commitments on Saturday included a BRDC charity event held at the BRDC Farm Marque, hosted by former F1 presenter Jake Humphrey.

SilverstoneFans got the opportunity to hear from Jolyon on the Sunday following an action-packed Grand Prix, as he took to the stage at the post Grand Prix party, where he was interviewed by pundit Tony Jardine in front of thousands of spectators to round off the weekend.

Speaking after driving in Free Practice One, Jolyon said: "I was very happy to drive in front of my home crowd. It was really special to be driving a Formula One car on a nice, sunny day at Silverstone. I've been coming to see the British Grand Prix since I was about three, so to drive an F1 car here on a Grand Prix weekend is pretty incredible."

Jolyon's next outing in the Lotus F1 Team E23 Hybrid will be in Free Practice One at the Hungarian Grand Prix on 24 July. The 90-minute session gets underway at 9am in the UK and you can follow all the action with updates on Jolyon's official website and via Sky Sports F1 Channel from 8:45am.
