Jolyon Palmer will drive for Lotus F1 Team in this Friday's (21 August) Free Practice One session at the Belgian Grand Prix as the Formula One season resumes following the summer break. The 24-year-old will take to the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit in the 90-minute session as part of his role as the Enstone-based squad's Third and Reserve Driver.

Jolyon has driven the team's 2015 car, the E23 Hybrid, in the last three FP1 sessions, starting with the Red Bull Ring in Austria, his home race in Britain at Silverstone and then the Hungaroring in Hungary. He performed very strongly in the first two, recording two 14th place finishes but his session in Hungary was significantly compromised and he was unable to record a lap time.

He has raced on the famous 4.352-mile circuit in Spa a number of times before and the 2014 GP2 Champion finished on the podium at the track with a third-place finish in last year's sprint race, on his way to claiming the title in dominant record-breaking fashion.

Following Belgium, Jolyon will compete in Free Practice at the Italian Grand Prix on the famous Autodromo Nazionale Monza circuit (4 September), the next race in the Formula One calendar. He will take part in a number of further FP1 sessions before the conclusion of the 2015 season.

Jolyon said: "After a few weeks of summer break, I can't wait to be back in the car at Spa, which is such a legendary track.  It is a circuit that I know well and hopefully it will suit the E23 Hybrid more than the last couple of races."
