Palmer aims for return to winning ways at legendary Monza

GP2 Championship leader Jolyon Palmer is targeting his third win of the season when the field heads to the high-speed Monza circuit in Italy this weekend (5-7 September).

The legendary venue is the quickest and one of the most atmospheric venues on the calendar. With long straights, high speed curves and heavy braking into the chicanes, the venue is a firm fan favourite and attracts huge crowds.

23-year-old Palmer, from Southwater in West Sussex, claimed his ninth podium finish of the season last time out at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium to remain on course for the championship title. He is the only driver to have scored points at every race so far this year.

Palmer commented: "Monza is one of my favourite tracks, so I can't wait to go there and with a healthy championship lead. After a slightly disappointing weekend at Spa, I'm confident we can bounce back and hopefully take another win."

Full coverage of rounds 17 and 18 of the 2014 GP2 season at Monza, including live timing, will be available on Jolyon's official website www.jolyonpalmer.com, while TV coverage of all sessions will be available on Sky F1's HD channel. The first practice session gets underway at 11am UK time on Friday 5 September.
