GP2 Champion Jolyon Palmer set the fourth quickest time in this morning's free practice session for the final round of the season at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi.

Palmer was a figure at the front throughout, going top twice, with his best lap, a 1m50.760s coming mid-way through the session.

Pitting with 13 minutes of the session remaining, Palmer returned to the track for the final 10 minutes as he completed further running on the medium compound tyres.

GP2 Qualifying starts at 15.10 UK time this afternoon (Friday).

Palmer commented: "I wasn't very happy with the car in practice, we were missing a bit of balance and I wasn't feeling so confident. Still, we are in the mix in P4 and I think we know a direction to go for qualifying to be challenging for pole later."
