GP2 title leader Palmer determined to continue winning ways at Barcelona

GP2 Championship leader Jolyon Palmer is aiming for further front running performances at the next round of the championship at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya on 9-11 May.

The 22-year-old Southwater ace leads the F1 feeder series standings by 10 points heading to the first round of the European season, following an exceptional opening round in Bahrain at the start of April.

On his debut for French team DAMS, Jolyon took his second GP2 career pole position and converted that to a strong third place finish after recovering well from a slow start, scooping the additional bonus points for fastest race lap in the process.

Starting sixth on the grid for race two, Palmer made an excellent
start to run second on the opening lap, before taking the lead at the start of
lap two. He then comfortably held the lead until the flag to claim his fourth
GP2 series victory, and again, taking the extra points for fastest race lap.

Turning his attentions to Barcelona, Jolyon commented: "After over a month off I'm itching to get back racing in Barcelona and we've been working hard since Bahrain to make sure we can be fighting at the front again. Qualifying will be crucial as overtaking is quite difficult at Barcelona so we need to make sure we are up to speed quickly on Friday."

Full coverage of rounds three and four of the 2014 GP2 season in Barcelona, including live timing, will be available on Jolyon's official website www.jolyonpalmer.com, while TV coverage of all sessions will be available on Sky F1's HD channel. The first practice session gets underway at 11am UK time on Friday 9 May.
