Jolyon seals front row start for Barcelona Feature Race

Jolyon Palmer will line up in second place on the grid for tomorrow's (Saturday) GP2 Feature Race in Barcelona.

Jolyon was fastest in practice earlier today, and improved on his lap time from this morning by over a second, but team mate Stephane Richelmi edged the Briton to pole by just 0.128s, with the DAMS duo a further tenth quicker than third place Stefano Coletti.

Palmer's time, a 1m29.421s came on his first flying lap of the session, as did Richelmi's. Jolyon pitted after 10 minutes for fresh soft compound tyres and re-emerged on track with eight minutes remaining. His final effort saw him set a personal best first and third sector, but his time was just 0.048s slower than his earlier effort, leaving him to settle for second on the grid, his second front row start of the season after taking pole last time out in Bahrain.

Speaking after the session, Jolyon commented: "I'm pleased to be back on the front row. I'm disappointed not to take pole, it was close and I felt there was a bit more time in there, but to be fair Stephane did a very good lap as well. We have a good chance to fight for the win again tomorrow though so now our focus will shift to race preparation."

The Barcelona GP2 Feature Race starts at 14.40 UK time tomorrow (Saturday).
