Jolyon Palmer posted the fifth fastest time on the second day of the final GP2 Series test at Bahrain today (Thursday).

He set his time of 1m39.854s in the quicker morning session, and briefly held top spot in the morning session before the majority of the field opted for softer compound tyres. Most runners opted for race simulation and pit stop practice during the afternoon session.

Speaking afterwards Jolyon commented: "We had a mixed run plan today with qualifying runs in the morning and race preparation in the afternoon again. We are missing a bit in quali spec now I think but we will work hard to find it. Still, fifth is not the end of the world and our race runs were good again which is promising. Lots of work to be done on the last day tomorrow!"

The final day of pre-season testing is held tomorrow (Friday), with the first round of the 2014 GP2 Series also taking place in Bahrain on 4-6 April.
