‘Best prepared’ Palmer eyes winning start to new GP2 season

Southwater's Jolyon Palmer heads into his fourth GP2 season at Bahrain this weekend (4-6 April) in buoyant mood after a strong pre-season testing campaign which has left him feeling better prepared at this point than ever before.

Jolyon has switched to the highly respected and very successful French DAMS team for 2014, with the outfit winning two of the last three drivers' titles in the F1-feeder series.

The 23-year-old's speed has been evident in the build up to the new campaign. Jolyon set the fastest overall time in the Abu Dhabi test three weeks ago and followed that with another front-running showing at the Bahrain test, where he was never outside the top-six in overall classification.

This follows a strong end to the 2013 season where he scored two feature race wins, including a flawless weekend at the penultimate round in Singapore where he also claimed a maiden pole position and fastest lap on the way to his second victory of the year.

"I'm really looking forward to getting the season started in Bahrain" Jolyon commented. "I feel better prepared than ever going into a season and I'm confident we can be fighting at the front at the weekend. Pre-season testing was good for us, and now we have just got to focus on not making any mistakes for the whole weekend."

Full coverage of rounds 1 and 2 of the 2014 GP2 season in Bahrain, including live timing, will be available on Jolyon's official website www.jolyonpalmer.com, while TV coverage of all sessions will be available on Sky F1's HD channel. The first practice session gets underway at 10am UK time on Friday 4 April.
