Palmer hungry for home glory at Silverstone

Britain's Jolyon Palmer heads to Silverstone this weekend (4-6 July) leading the GP2 Series standings after an outstanding start to his season in the F1 feeder category, including wins at Bahrain and at Monaco. He heads to Northamptonshire as the first Briton to lead the championship at his home GP2 race since Lewis Hamilton in 2006.

Palmer has been dominant so far this year, scoring those two victories and three other podium finishes in the first five races, and has qualified on the front row of the grid at each round.

Jolyon traditionally goes well in GP2 at Silverstone, having scored podiums in the feature races in 2012 and 2013 with third and second places respectively. A similar performance this weekend in front of an expected bumper crowd would likely see the 23-year-old extend his already commanding championship lead, currently standing at 33 points over Felipe Nasr.

Speaking before the weekend, Jolyon said: "I can't wait for Silverstone this weekend. I've been strong there in the past and it's great to be going to my home race as the championship leader. We've done a lot of preparation for the weekend and I'm confident we can be fighting at the front again."

Full coverage of rounds nine and 10 of the 2014 GP2 season at Silverstone, including live timing, will be available on Jolyon's official website www.jolyonpalmer.com, while TV coverage of all sessions will be available on Sky F1's HD channel. The first practice session gets underway at 12 midday UK time on Friday 4 July.
