Jolyon charges to fourth in Silverstone Sprint Race

Jolyon produced another excellent performance in today's (Sunday's) Sprint Race at Silverstone, gaining three places over the course of the 21 lap contest to finish fourth.

The championship leader started seventh due to GP2's reverse grid system, having scored a superb second position in yesterday's Feature Race. He overtook Stoffel Vandoorne at the start, and then re-gained a place from the fast-starting Mitch Evans with a stunning move at Maggots on the opening lap - one of the fastest sections of the circuit - to end sixth at the end of the first tour.

Jolyon then quickly passed team-mate Stéphane Richelmi, who had fallen down the order having started from pole, at Village Corner and set about closing the gap to Carlin's Julián Leal. Jolyon made another great opportunistic move, this time at The Loop, to claim fourth place.

Johnny Cecotto was holding third position and Jolyon narrowed the gap from 2.5 seconds to just over half a second in the final laps, but was never close enough to attempt a pass. Jolyon settled for fourth place, earning more valuable championship points.

Speaking after the race Jolyon commented: "7th to 4th today with some nice overtaking moves. Very pleased with the weekend overall... Next stop - Germany."

Carlin's Felipe Nasr, who finished seventh yesterday and therefore started in second place, took an easy win to narrow the points deficit to Jolyon to 38 points at the top of the points table, with Stefano Coletti in second.
