Palmer targets return to winning ways at Hockenheim

GP2 Championship leader Jolyon Palmer aims to return to his winning ways at Germany's Hockenheim circuit this weekend (18-20 July), as the season reaches its midway point.

Palmer has held the GP2 championship lead from the start of the season, scoring two race victories and four other podiums in the 10 races so far in a brilliantly consistent show of form.

The 23-year-old from Southwater, West Sussex, leads the standings by 38 points from Felipe Nasr, after extending his championship advantage at his home race at Silverstone two weekends ago.

Jolyon claimed second place in the Feature Race at Silverstone after an exciting scrap with eventual winner Mitch Evans, before fighting his way through from seventh on the grid to fourth in the Sprint Race.

Jolyon's most recent win came at the famously demanding Monaco street circuit in May, and he says he's looking for another victory at Hockenheim: "After just missing out on the win at Silverstone, I'm definitely aiming for the top step this weekend. There are a few overtaking opportunities at Hockenheim, so the racing should be exciting. It's a short lap as well, so like Silverstone I expect it to be really tight at the top, especially in qualifying."

Full coverage of rounds 11 and 12 of the 2014 GP2 season at Hockenheim, including live timing, will be available on Jolyon's official website www.jolyonpalmer.com, while TV coverage of all sessions will be available on Sky F1's HD channel. The first practice session gets underway at 11am UK time on Friday 18 July.
