Jolyon receives prestigious BRDC Fairfield Trophy

GP2 Champion Jolyon Palmer received another prestigious accolade today (Monday 8 December), as he collected the British Racing Drivers' Club Fairfield Trophy. This comes just days after Jolyon received the Guild of Motoring Writers Driver of the Year Award.

The BRDC is Britain's most prestigious club for racing drivers, counting among its members legendary Formula One World Champions and Le Mans winners.

The Fairfield Trophy, named in honour of pre-War ERA racer Pat Fairfield, recognises an outstanding performance by a BRDC member. Former winners include current World Endurance Champion Anthony Davidson and three-time Le Mans winner Allan McNish.

This award recognises Jolyon's domination of the 2014 GP2 Championship, in which he became the first British Champion since Lewis Hamilton in 2006. He finished the season with four wins, 12 podiums, and a record-breaking points haul.

Jolyon received his prize at a presentation ceremony also attended by Formula One World Champion Hamilton, 1996 World Champion Damon Hill, BRDC President Derek Warwick, and ex-Grand Prix driver and renowned TV commentator Martin Brundle.
