Jolyon eyes Singapore success this weekend

Southwater racer Jolyon Palmer heads to the unique Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore this weekend (20-22 September) for rounds 19 and 20 of the F1-supporting GP2 series, expecting strong results in the penultimate weekend of this year's championship.

Jolyon was present at Rockingham last weekend to witness younger brother Will take his first career race win in the Ginetta Junior Championship, and is hoping to make it two wins for the Palmer family in consecutive weekends with victory in the Far East.

Having qualified a career best-equalling fourth on the grid at Monza last time out, the 22-year-old, who drives for the Carlin team in GP2, has targeted a front row start to ensure he has the best possible chance of adding to his own victory tally.

"Last year I really enjoyed racing at Singapore and came close to pole position," Jolyon commented. The aim this year is to take my first pole to set us up nicely for the weekend. The races should be interesting as in the heat of the day, tyre wear could be significant, but we will have to see after practice on Friday."

Full coverage of rounds 19 and 20 of the 2013 GP2 season in Singapore, including live timing, will be available on Jolyon's official website, while TV coverage of all sessions will be available on Sky F1's HD Channel. The first practice session gets underway at 9.45am (UK time) on Friday 20 September.
