Palmer plans podiums at high speed Monza

Southwater racer Jolyon Palmer heads to the legendary Monza circuit this weekend (7-8 September) for rounds 17 and 18 of the F1-supporting GP2 Series, with full intentions of stepping onto the winners' podium at the atmospheric Italian venue.

The historic track, on the outskirts of Milan, has traditionally served good results for the 22-year old, who secured a double win in FIA Formula Two in 2010, and a podium in the GP2 Sprint Race last year. Jolyon lies eighth in this year's GP2 standings after securing more points last time out in Belgium, despite being denied a potential top three finish in the first race after being taken out of contention by his team-mate.

With top speeds touching 200mph, the fastest of the year, the Carlin driver is looking to power his way to further success at Monza this weekend, still high on confidence from his Feature Race success in Hungary at the end of July.

Jolyon commented: "I'm looking forward to Monza, one of my favourite tracks on the calendar and one I've always done well at. Qualifying has been better in the last couple of rounds so hopefully I can continue that and be in the mix for the podium or a win on Saturday which is the aim."

Full coverage of rounds 17 and 18 of the 2013 GP2 season at Monza, including live timing, will be available on Jolyon's official website, while TV coverage of all sessions will be available on Sky F1's HD Channel. The first practice session gets underway at 11am (UK time) on Friday 6 September.
