Jolyon Palmer set the fourth fastest time in this morning's (Friday 10 May), GP2 free practice session at Barcelona.

The 22 year-old Carlin driver, who currently lies sixth in the GP2 standings, ran at the front throughout the session, completing 15 laps with his quickest time of 1m30.977s coming on his sixth tour.

Unlike the earlier F1 free practice session, the field were able to take advantage of dry running on the Spanish circuit, but mixed conditions are forecast throughout the weekend.

Jolyon showed similar front running pace at the pre-season test in March, and will now go into qualifying for tomorrow's feature race at 14.55pm UK time.

Speaking afterwards, Jolyon enthused: "I was really happy with that session, I had a lot of traffic on my lap and was still fourth. We are in a very strong position going into qualifying now so I will have a look at the data and try to find a bit to fight for pole."
