Rain disrupts opening Barcelona test session

Jolyon Palmer was unable to continue his strong GP2 testing form from last week as heavy rain hampered running on the opening morning (Tuesday, 5 March) in Barcelona.

Few drivers chose to venture out early on with just four posting any sort of lap time in the first hour. The slippery conditions also led to a total of three red flags in the session, two coming in the first 45 minutes alone.

ART's James Calado ended the session on top followed by MP's Daniel De Jong and Simon Trummer driving for Rapax, but with limited running in difficult conditions the times are not representative.

Speaking afterwards: "This morning was very wet so we didn't manage to get a lot of running done. I did some more start practice which was useful but apart from that we didn't do a huge amount. I'm hoping for better weather this afternoon."

Testing continues this afternoon with full coverage on Jolyon's official website.
