Jolyon to start Silverstone Feature Race from 20th

Jolyon Palmer will start tomorrow's GP2 Feature Race at Silverstone from 20th place, after a rain affected qualifying session at the Northamptonshire circuit this afternoon (28 June).

Qualifying started under gloomy skies but much drier than this morning's free practice session. But the rain quickly set in and became much heavier from the mid point of the session.

Jolyon set a lap time of 1m42.207s and was fastest at one point, but times quickly tumbled before the worst of the weather set in. By the time Jolyon started his second competitive flying lap the conditions had worsened to the point where further improvements were rendered impossible.

Times in the session were very close, and Jolyon was 1.4s off the pole position time set by Marcus Ericsson.

Speaking afterwards Jolyon said: "It was a difficult session for us, the rain always confuses things and the normal qualifying programme goes out the window. There's a lot to do now tomorrow. It's disappointing to be starting my home race so far down the grid, but we'll just have to see what we can do tomorrow."
