Jolyon Palmer targets home glory at Silverstone

Southwater racer Jolyon Palmer is aiming for race wins at Silverstone this weekend (28-30 June), his home round of the GP2 season, as he prepares to compete in front of tens of thousands of spectators as part of the British Grand Prix.

The 22-year-old, who drives for the Carlin team in the F1 feeder series, has tasted success at Silverstone in the past, with a race win in FIA Formula Two in 2010 and a podium finish in GP2 last season in treacherous wet weather conditions.

Jolyon currently lies eighth in the championship standings, despite a tough weekend last time out in Monaco at the end of May. After being innocently taken out in a first corner incident in race one, he showed his class and overtaking prowess in race two, making up seven places in the sprint race to finish 12th, at a circuit where overtaking is notoriously difficult.

Speaking before his home round, Jolyon commented: "After a long break I can't wait to get racing again at Silverstone. It's my home circuit and also one of my favourites to drive so I'm really looking forward to it. I was on the podium in the wet last year there so I don't mind if it is wet or dry. The aim is definitely to take my first win of 2013."

Full coverage of rounds nine and ten of the 2013 GP2 season at Silverstone, including live timing, will be available on Jolyon's official website www.jolyonpalmer.com , while TV coverage of all sessions will be available on Sky F1's HD Channel. The first practice session gets underway at 12pm midday (UK time) on Friday 28 June.
