Jolyon Palmer was eleventh fastest in this afternoon's (Friday) GP2 Qualifying session at the Nurburgring.

Once again, relatively cool track temperatures forced the drivers to work their tyres hard in the early stages.

Jolyon's fourth lap put him up to sixth place with a purple first sector as blows were traded in a closely fought and frantic session. With track conditions ever improving, Jolyon was pushed down to twelfth at the halfway point.

Jolyon was able to improved to eleventh with his final flying lap of the session to secure a top-12 grid slot for tomorrow's feature race.

Speaking afterwards, Jolyon commented "I had a relatively trouble free run in qualifying but we are just missing a few tenths and will start just outside the top 10. We're looking into how to improve in qualifying still but now the focus is on the race. I'm starting nine places higher than Silverstone where I finished sixth so hopefully I can be in the fight for a podium tomorrow!"
