Jolyon Palmer was seventh fastest in cool conditions at the Nurburgring in this morning's (5 July) GP2 Free Practice session.

The colder track conditions presented a challenge as the session began but times dramatically improved as the drivers got temperature into the tyres.

Jolyon featured regularly in the top-10 throughout the session, setting the fastest time and purple sector three at one point, before eventually finishing with the seventh fastest time.

Jolyon's fastest time, set around the mid-point of the 30 minute period, was more than 20 seconds quicker than his initial effort.

Speaking after the session, Jolyon commented "The tyres took a little while to come in at the start of the session; I put in a reasonable lap early on before pitting which was to be my fastest. On our second run we worked on a few things but didn't improve time wise. Overall, I'm pretty happy and confident with where we are. This was one of my stronger practice sessions this year so I'm feeling good going in to qualifying this afternoon."
