Jolyon to start Hungary feature race from P7

Jolyon Palmer will start from seventh place in tomorrow's (Saturday 27 July) GP2 Feature Race at the Hungaroring.

The 22-year-old, who races for the Carlin team, set his lap early in the 30 minute session when track conditions were at their most favourable.

He pitted after 10 minutes, and returned to the track on fresh tyres with 10 minutes remaining. He looked on course to improve further, having set two personal best sectors with three minutes remaining, but slid wide, forcing him to settle for seventh. The position though, marks his best qualifying since Monaco.

The session was closely fought, with less than a second covering the top 16 drivers. Jolyon's best lap of 1m28.802s was half a second away from Tom Dillmann's pole time.

Speaking afterwards, Jolyon commented: "I had a good first run to go 5th at the half way stage. Unfortunately I made a mistake in sector three on my last lap and couldn't improve in the second run but I ended 7th which I'm happy with considering my recent qualifying performances. Hopefully tomorrow we can get on the podium now."

Tomorrow's GP2 Feature Race at Hungary starts at 14.40 UK time.
