Jolyon Palmer set the 13th quickest time in this morning's (Friday 26 July) GP2 free practice session at a sweltering Hungaroring.

The 22-year-old Carlin driver ran inside the top ten in the early phases of the session, and briefly held the top spot after five minutes. With nine minutes gone he looked to be on course to go much quicker but backed off with yellow flags being waved at the final corner.

He pitted with 12 minutes remaining for a fresh set of tyres as he acclimatised to the heat, with track temperatures pushing 50 degrees celsius, resuming with five minutes remaining, completing 13 laps in total during the session.

Speaking afterwards, Jolyon commented: "We had a solid start in practice this morning. Unfortunately yellow flags meant I couldn't improve on my lap time but I feel confident going into qualifying and onto the soft tyres for the first time."
