Jolyon Palmer certain he can fight for 2013 GP2 title

Jolyon Palmer discussed his plans for his third season of GP2 during last weekend's Autosport International Show, with the British driver confident that all the ingredients are in place for him to win this year's title.

The 21-year-old has switched to Carlin for his third GP2 campaign following a successful season with iSport in 2012 which saw him secure his maiden win at the showpiece Monaco event, together with podiums at Silverstone and Monza to finish 11th overall.

Speaking live on the main stage with Henry Hope-Frost, Jolyon told visitors that he now has the experience, coupled with Carlin's strong form, to challenge for the title.

"After two years I am ready and I am aiming for the championship," said Jolyon. "Hopefully, with my experience and the support of the Carlin crew around me, we've got everything in place to take the title."

Carlin finished fifth in the teams' championship in 2012 with Max Chilton and Rio Haryanto. They enjoyed a very successful second half to the season with three pole positions and two race wins, including a dominant victory for Chilton at the season finale in Singapore.

"They are a very good team and they're on the pace. They had Chilton last year who was very quick and I hope to be too," added Jolyon.
