Jolyon Palmer frustrated by stop/start second morning in Jerez

Jolyon Palmer was frustratingly unable to continue this strong testing pace from yesterday as no fewer than four red flags, including three in the first hour, hampered running during the second morning in Jerez.

After setting the pace in Tuesday's opening session - his first ever outing with his new Carlin team - the 22-year-old had looked to focus on fine-tuning his qualifying setup but was hampered by the stop/start session as well as a gearbox issue.

Completing a total of 31 laps, the GP2 race-winner posted a best time of 1:25.310s around the cold Spanish track and improving on his best time from yesterday.

Speaking afterwards Jolyon said: "It wasn't a good morning. There were too many stupid red flags early on which meant we couldn't run properly for an hour and a half. Then we had a gearbox issue which was holding us back a bit so we ended up P15. We are doing more race run practice this afternoon."

Testing continues this afternoon with full coverage on Jolyon's official website.
