Jolyon Palmer concludes strong Jerez test with P7 in final session

Jolyon Palmer rounded off a productive three days of GP2 pre-season testing in Jerez by going seventh quickest in the sixth and final session.

The 22-year-old Brit, preparing for his third season in the F1 feeder series with new team Carlin, used the final dry stint to produce his best time of the entire test posting a 1:25.276s.

Earlier this week, Jolyon got his 2013 campaign off to the perfect start by topping the timesheets in the opening session and has shown strong pace in both low fuel runs and longer race simulations.

Speaking afterwards Jolyon said: "This afternoon we worked hard on qualifying setup and made big improvements. In the end we finished P7 but I'm happy that there is more time in there and more importantly we know the direction we need to go to gain more performance.

"Overall for the three days I'm relatively pleased with how it's gone. Importantly we've learnt plenty of things, especially regarding the new tyres for this year on both short and long runs. I'm looking forward to Barcelona next week where hopefully we can make more progress."

GP2 testing resumes next week with three days in Barcelona beginning on March 5. Full coverage will be available on Jolyon's official website.
