Frustrating final weekend for Jolyon Palmer in Singapore

Jolyon Palmer ended a frustrating weekend in Singapore after being innocently caught up in an early collision with Johnny Cecotto during today's (Sunday) final GP2 race of the season.

After a gearbox issue cut short his race yesterday, Jolyon began from P19 for the 21-lap Sprint Race, making a solid start to hold his position through the opening few laps.

He was then involved in a battle with Cecotto through Turn 16 until the Addax driver forced him into the barrier, ending his race and handing the Venezuelan a drive-through penalty for his actions.

Caterham's Giedo van der Garde went on to secure the race victory with Marcus Ericsson in second and Fabio Leimer in third. The result means DAMS secure the teams championship after Davide Valsecchi was crowned overal champion yesterday.

This weekend marked the final round of the 2012 GP2 Series with Jolyon Palmer finishing 11th in the drivers' standings, with his iSport International team in sixth.
