Jolyon concludes first day of testing in Jerez

Jolyon Palmer completed a productive first day of testing during today's (Thursday) GP2 session in Jerez, running with the Lotus GP team.

The 21-year-old Brit improved on his best time from the morning session to go P13 for the afternoon stint, which saw drivers enjoy dry, sunny conditions compared to the earlier fog.

"We did a long run this afternoon which was ok and we learnt a lot about the set up," said Jolyon. "I finished the day with a run on new tyres again, it was not bad but I lost a lot of time at the end of the lap which meant I only finished P13. Overall I am happy enough with the day. The times weren't the most competitive but we know the reasons why. I was comfortable working with the team and now my focus is on tomorrow and finishing 2012 strongly with iSport again."

DAMS driver Marcus Ericcson was the afternoon pace setter with Addax's Alexander Sims in second and Kevin Giovesi, running with Lazarus, in third.

Testing continues tomorrow where Jolyon will return to iSport, the team he raced with during the 2012 GP2 series, with full coverage on Jolyon's official website.
