Jolyon enjoys solid morning with Lotus GP in Jerez test

Jolyon Palmer enjoyed a productive start to this morning's (Thursday) opening test session at Spain's Jerez circuit, driving for French squad Lotus GP.

The day began in foggy conditions with only a few drivers electing to set lap times, waiting instead for the visibility to improve. The skies did eventually clear with Jolyon, who returns to iSport for tomorrow's second test day, showing encouraging pace on old tyres by the midway point.

Unfortunately, the second half of his session was hampered with a gearbox issue during his new tyre run, leaving the 21-year-old Brit in P15 at the chequered flag.

Speaking afterwards Jolyon said: "We had a good morning, gradually getting used to the car and improving the lap time on old tyres. Unfortunately we had a problem with the upshift and also with the tyre pressures when I went out for a new tyre run at the end of the morning which cost us a chunk of time. At least we know the issue and can sort it for the afternoon. I've enjoyed the morning with the team and hopefully we can pick up the pace this afternoon."

Testing continues this afternoon with coverage on Jolyon's official website.
