Palmer ‘can’t wait’ for showpiece Monaco GP2 event this weekend

Southwater racer Jolyon Palmer is eagerly looking forward to the next GP2 rounds at Monaco's iconic street circuit this weekend (24-26 May).

The 21-year-old has endured a luckless start to his second campaign in the F1 feeder-series due to major technical issues with his iSport car. A recurring electrical fault has significantly compromised his last three race weekends and left him with little to show for his front-running pace when everything is working as it should.

The iSport team have taken the decision to completely rebuild his car in an effort to finally solve the issue in time for Monaco, with the West Sussex racer confident he can put his car woes behind him at this weekend's event in the Principality.

"I can't wait for Monaco," said Jolyon. "It's the one weekend I've been looking forward to all year. Driving around there is great and it is flat out all race. This year we have a split qualifying of 14 minutes each. This is a good move by GP2 because last year was manic with 26 cars as people have to do slow laps to cool down the Pirelli tyres so there is so much traffic. Hopefully this year everyone can have a clean qualifying with half the cars on track. I'm now just hoping we can get the car to work properly and then I'm confident of a strong weekend."

This weekend's GP2 rounds race alongside the Formula One World Championship with full coverage on Jolyon's website www.jolyonpalmer.com as well as the new Sky Sports F1 channel.
