Further despair for Palmer as electrical fault strikes again

Jolyon Palmer was cruelly denied the chance to start today's (Sunday) GP2 Sprint Race in Barcelona after his iSport car suffered the same electrical issue which ruined his previous two weekends in Bahrain.

Having scored his second points finish yesterday after an assertive drive during the Feature Race, the 21-year-old was poised to do the same again today from his P9 grid slot. However, the reoccurring electrical fault - causing the car's engine to stop - unbelievably struck again during the warm-up lap ahead of the 26 lap race, denying him the opportunity.

Speaking afterwards a frustrated Palmer said: "We had the same problem as the last two weekends on the warm-up lap so I didn't start the race. Three race starts out of eight so far this season says it all...I'm obviously very disappointed."

The race was won by Arden driver Luiz Razia, who started from the reverse pole, with Nathanael Berthon in second and Davide Valsecchi in third.

The next rounds of the 2012 GP2 Series take place in Monaco on 24-26 May with full coverage on Jolyon's official website.
