Frustrating afternoon for Jolyon Palmer in Hockenheim Feature Race

Jolyon Palmer endured a frustrating afternoon at Hockenheim after being forced to settle for 18th place in today's (Saturday) wet/dry Feature Race.

After a tricky qualifying session yesterday, Jolyon lined up 21st on the wet grid but unfortunately stalled on the formation lap, causing him to start the 38-lap race from the pit lane.

Undeterred, the 21-year-old made a solid first lap, passing Sergio Canamasas, Giancarlo Serenelli and Ricardo Teixeira to regain his P21 grid slot and showing good pace around the now drying German track. Along with the rest of the field, he dived into the pits as soon as the pit-stop window opened on lap six, switching onto slicks before setting back out again.

By the half way point, Jolyon was lapping comparably to the front runners and closing down on Rodolfo Gonzalez in front of him. He continued to push in the closing stages to gain a further three places to finish P18.

Speaking afterwards Jolyon said: "I had to start from the pit lane after stalling on the green flag lap. Then after we pitted for slicks the pace was good but I had no brakes so couldn't overtake or defend. I ended up getting stuck in traffic and couldn't do much. I passed a few cars at the end to finish 18th but I'm hoping for plenty more tomorrow."

Up at the front, Johnny Cecotto Jr secured his second win of the year for Addax with Fabio Leimer second for Racing Engineering and Trident's Stephane Richelmi third.

Jolyon is next in action at 10:35 (local time) tomorrow for the 27-lap Sprint Race with full coverage on his official website.
