Sky to broadcast 2012 GP2 races

Sky Sports have announced that their forthcoming Sky Sports F1 HD channel will broadcast live coverage of the 2012 GP2 Series.

The new channel will screen all races from this year's extended 12-round GP2 calendar which begins in Malaysia on 23-25 March. Both the weekend's two races, Feature and Sprint, will be shown in full giving motorsport fans a chance to watch the F1 drivers of the future in action.

In addition to live coverage, Sky have also confirmed that their weekly magazine show, presented by Georgie Thompson and Ted Kravitz, will provide coverage, analysis and discussion of the races from the likes of Monaco, Monza and Silverstone, Spa and Singapore.

Sky Sports F1 HD will also broadcast every round of the 2012 Formula One season, which GP2 runs alongside as an F1 feeder series, as well as GP3.

Sky's Executive Producer Martin Turner said: "We are delighted to be showing GP2 and GP3 live on Sky Sports F1 HD. There are six former GP2 champions in Formula 1 this season, including Lewis Hamilton and last year's winner Romain Grosjean. The series promises nail-biting and fascinating racing and we'll track gifted drivers through the ranks as they aim for Formula 1."

This year sees Jolyon Palmer embark on his second full campaign of GP2 driving for leading British team iSport after a promising rookie season with Arden in 2011. Jolyon is next in action from 28 February to 1 March for official pre-season testing in Jerez, Spain with full coverage on www.jolyonpalmer.com.
