Palmer ‘raring’ to get 2012 season under way

British driver Jolyon Palmer says he's raring to get behind the wheel ahead of the first pre-season GP2 test in Jerez, Spain.

This year sees the 21-year-old embark on his second season of the F1 feeder-series after a promising rookie campaign in 2011, which also saw him secure his maiden podium during the GP2 Finals event in Abu Dhabi.

Palmer, from Southwater in West Sussex, will drive for leading British team iSport International in 2012, partnering Swedish driver Marcus Ericsson.

The first of two pre-season tests gets under way on 28 February to 1 March, before moving to Barcelona on 6-8 March, with Jolyon eager to get started: "We have been working hard getting everything together at iSport over the past few months and now I'm raring to start driving," said Jolyon, who was recently tipped by leading motorsport magazine Autosport as a British driver to watch in 2012.

Jolyon added: "We have a plan for the test, which will include analysing the changes for this year which are the option tyres and the increase in downforce. Getting on top of these changes will be important for performance at the start of the year."

The opening round of the 2012 GP2 Series takes place at Sepang, Malaysia, on 23-25 March with full coverage on Jolyon's official website.
