Jolyon finishes 5th overall on day two in Jerez

Jolyon Palmer enjoyed another successful day of GP2 testing at Jerez to finish an excellent fifth quickest overall today (Wednesday), following on from his third position yesterday.

The 21-year-old was consistently at the front of the field again during this morning's opening session where Jolyon focused mainly on short runs and getting the most out of both the option and prime sets of Pirelli tyres.

After briefly heading the timesheets early on, the Brit moved into fifth position with team-mate Marcus Ericsson in sixth, where they remained until the chequered flag.

In the afternoon, Jolyon concentrated on longer race simulations where he completed a total of 41 laps in his iSport car before a final red flag, caused by Julian Leal's stationary car, ended the session early.

Speaking afterwards Jolyon said: "This afternoon we did a full race simulation which went very well. A number of other cars did the same and we appear to be very competitive throughout the run which is promising. Overall it has been another good day and I hope we can continue the strong form tomorrow into the final day."

DAMS driver Davide Valsecchi ended the day quickest overall with Esteban Gutierrez second and Max Chilton third. GP2 testing continues tomorrow at 9am (local time) with full coverage on Jolyon's official website.
