2013 GP2 calendar revealed

The GP2 Series organisers have announced their 2013 calendar which will consist of 11 rounds, all support events of the official Formula One World Championship.

The ninth season of the GP2 Series will open in Sepang, Malaysia on March 22-24 before flying off to Bahrain for the second round a month later on April 19-21. As Formula One makes its way back to Europe, so will GP2 starting in Barcelona on May 10-12 and Monte-Carlo two weeks later. The action will then resume in Silverstone on June 28-30. The month of July will host two race weekends, first at the Nűrburgring on the 5-7, and then in Budapest on the 26-28.

After the summer break, the Series will travel to Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium on August 24 followed by the Italian round at Monza two weeks later. The Series will return to Singapore on September 20-22 ahead of the season finale on the first weekend of November at Abu Dhabi's Yas Marina Circuit.

In addition, two pre-season test sessions will be held on 26-28 February at Jerez, followed by Barcelona on 5-7 March.

2013 marks Jolyon Palmer's third season in the F1 feeder-series where he has his sights set on championship victory after signing with leading British team Carlin.

GP2 Series CEO Bruno Michel commented: "2013 will be another strong season for GP2. Our sole goal has always been and will continue to remain to prepare the next generation of F1 drivers. I believe that's exactly what we will see again in 2013 and I am really looking forward to next season."
