Mechanical failure cruelly wrecks Bahrain Feature Race for Palmer

Jolyon Palmer was cruelly denied the chance to start today's (Saturday) GP2 Feature Race in Bahrain after his iSport car suffered an electrical related issue on the way to the grid.

The 21-year-old Brit had secured P12 for the 32-lap race following yesterday's closely fought qualifying session but the problem meant he was unable to take up his starting position.

Speaking afterwards a frustrated Palmer said: "We had a problem on the way to the grid. It was an electrical related issue but we still don't know what it is. It is immensely frustrating and the guys will be working hard to find it tonight and make sure it's fixed for tomorrow. We will start from last tomorrow so there is little chance of a result but hopefully I can get some good mileage in before next weekend."

The race was won by DAMS driver Davide Valsecchi who led from start to finish from pole position. Arden's Luiz Razia finished second with Esteban Gutierrez, driving for Lotus GP, in third.

Jolyon Palmer returns to the track for Sunday's 23-lap Sprint Race which gets underway at 08:50 (UK time).  Full coverage, including live timing, will be available on his official website www.jolyonpalmer.com, with live TV coverage on the new Sky Sports F1 channel.
