Jolyon Palmer targets strong results in Bahrain

British driver Jolyon Palmer has his sights set on achieving strong results this weekend (21/22 April) during the second round of the GP2 series in Bahrain.

The 21-year-old from Southwater is hoping to continue the strong pace he showed at the opening rounds in Malaysia last month which saw he top the timesheets in the opening practice session as well as qualify an impressive seventh fastest.

Racing alongside the Formula One World Championship, the weekend's event had been the cause of much speculation due to the political unrest in the country but Palmer, who drives for British team iSport International, is remaining focused on the task ahead. "I'm looking forward to racing in Bahrain," he said. "After a lot of speculation on whether the race will be on or not, we are here and now we must focus on dong the best job possible.

"From the simulator the track looks nice and flowing and I'm hoping for some strong results and continuing on from the pace we showed in Malaysia."

Full coverage of Jolyon's weekend in Bahrain, including live timing, will be available on his official website www.jolyonpalmer.com. Both GP2 races will be screened live in the UK on the new Sky Sports F1 channel.
