More frustration for Palmer in Bahrain Feature Race

Jolyon Palmer endured a frustrating race during today's (Friday) GP2 Feature event in Bahrain after being hampered by yet more electrical issues in his iSport car.

The 21-year-old, who has been plagued with problems all day, stalled at the start of the 32 lap race and was then forced to change steering wheels when his mechanical issue returned.

When he did rejoin he was already a lap down and had lost too much time to repeat his brilliant recovery drive from last weekend, where he made up 18 places to finish seventh from the back of the grid.

Despite this the Brit showed excellent pace in the early stages, holding the fastest lap on several occasions and being consistently one of the quickest drivers on track.

On lap 13 he pitted for fresh tyres and once again showed great pace as he continued to unlap himself, pulling off a number of impressive overtakes. Then in the final stages he was caught in a tangle with the much slower Rodolfo Gonzalez, which ended his race.

Speaking afterwards Palmer said: "I stalled at the start and then changed steering wheels in the pit lane because the problem was happening again. After that I started a lap down but was one of the quickest out there all race. I pulled off a lot of good moves to unlap myself from people but in the end Gonzalez took me out and I didn't finish. With the pace we showed today though I don't see why we can't get points again from the back of the grid tomorrow."

Meanwhile, Davide Valsecchi secured the race honours with Fabio Leimer and Giedo Van Der Garde joining him on the podium.

Palmer returns to the track tomorrow for the 23 lap Sprint Race which gets underway at 12:00 (UK time). Full coverage, including live timing, will be available on his official website.
