Palmer ends Addax Jerez test with top 10

Jolyon Palmer finished his GP2 testing debut with Addax by setting the tenth fastest time while successfully completing the team's programme in today's (Thursday) afternoon session at Jerez.

After showing promising pace on used tyres in the morning session, the 20-year-old from West Sussex managed to complete 27 laps around the 4.428km circuit, setting the tenth fastest time in the process. Palmer's Addax team mate for the day Jake Rosenzwieg was 14th quickest.

The 2010 FIA Formula Two runner-up impressed early on in a session, which was disrupted by red flags, by occupying fourth spot behind Jules Bianchi, Sam Bird and Julian Leal as a result of a low fuel run. Palmer never dropped out of the top ten and he completed the session in tenth spot, following a successful fuel conservation programme.

Speaking after the session, Jolyon said: "We tried a long run in the afternoon which was again successful managing to conserve the tyres. I did a low fuel run early in the afternoon which was good enough for a top ten which is reasonable but I am hoping for much more in Barcelona."

Lotus ART driver Jules Bianchi topped the time sheets ahead of the Trident Racing duo of Sam Bird and Julian Leal.

Jolyon is next on track on 19/20 October for the GP2 test session in Barcelona before the GP2 Finals race in November at the Yas Marina circuit in Abu Dhabi.
