Jolyon ready for productive afternoon Jerez session with Addax

Jolyon Palmer opened day two of GP2 testing at Spain's Jerez circuit by setting the 14th fastest time in this morning's (Thursday) session.

The 20-year-old from West Sussex, driving for the Addax team, who secured the 2011 GP2 Teams' title, continued to show good potential on used tyres early on in a productive test session around the 4.428km circuit.

The Brit, who recorded a string of top ten finishes in his debut GP2 season with Arden this year, held ninth spot during the first hour of the session before finishing his test programme with the 14th fastest time, after struggling with unexpected balance issues on new tyres.

Palmer said: "It was not the morning we had hoped for. We had good pace on used tyres but on new tyres we struggled with a strange balance, which we weren't expecting. We are trying to work out how to dial this out and hopefully we can be higher up in the afternoon."

Fabio Leimer, driving for Racing Engineering, set the fastest time in the session ahead of Fabio Onidi (Scuderia Coloni) and former GP3 driver Nigel Melker.

Jolyon, 2010 FIA Formula Two Championship runner-up, is next on track later today for the afternoon session, with coverage on his official website and Facebook page.
