Jolyon continues strong form in Jerez test to end P7

Jolyon Palmer continued his strong form from this morning's (Wednesday) GP2 test session in Jerez to go ninth fastest for the afternoon session and end the day seventh fastest overall.

After going seventh quickest earlier today, the 20-year-old continued to impress running with leading British outfit iSport, who finished fourth in this year's GP2 teams' championship.

The Spanish sunshine continued to shine for the second of the day's stints with Jolyon starting brightly running P4 early on. He then spent the majority of the session running race simulations to gauge tyre degradation before putting in some quick laps during the final 30 minutes to go P6.

On new Pirelli tyres, he continued to push around the 4.428 Spanish track before ending the session ninth fastest, just behind fellow countryman Sam Bird.

Commenting afterwards Jolyon said: "I was P9 in the afternoon but P7 overall for the day. I didn't quite manage to get the most out of the new tyres in the afternoon and nearly matched my time on my second run. My long run was good too. I was very consistent and I was able to manage the tyres well, which shows good signs of progress over the year. Now I'm looking forward to driving with Addax tomorrow where I hope to move further up the order."

Fabio Leimer once again led the way for the session followed by Yelmer Buurman and Dani Clos.

Jolyon will switch to Team Barwa Addax for tomorrow's (Thursday) test session in Jerez with full coverage on his official website and Facebook page.
