Jolyon Palmer ends opening day of GP2 testing in Barcelona P10

Jolyon Palmer enjoyed a positive first day (Wednesday) of official GP2 testing in Barcelona to end the day 10th quickest overall.

After finishing in the top 10 this morning, the 20-year-old Brit used the afternoon session to try different race simulations in his Barwa Addax car, focusing on long, high fuel runs rather than outright pace, and as such finished P26 for the stint.

The session once again saw drivers enjoy dry, sunny conditions at the Spanish circuit allowing Jolyon, who was the 2010 FIA Formula Two runner-up, to make the most of the three-hour test session to aid with his preparations for the forthcoming GP2 Finals event in Abu Dhabi next month.

Speaking afterwards Jolyon said: "This afternoon we just concentrated on long, high fuel runs for race preparation. I did two runs and we tried some set up changes to help the degradation. The testing was positive and I still finished in P10 overall from the morning run so overall I can be quite happy with my day."

Tom Dillmann, driving for iSport, went quickest for the session with Esteban Gutierrez in second and Nigel Melker third fastest.

Jolyon returns to the 4.655km Circuit de Catalunya tomorrow for the second day of testing driving for Carlin with full coverage on his official website and Facebook page.
