Jolyon Palmer joins BRDC SuperStars

Jolyon Palmer has been honoured by the British Racing Drivers Club (BRDC) after being called into its prestigious SuperStars scheme.

Headed by 1992 British Touring Car Champion Tim Harvey, the programme concentrates on promoting and assisting some of Britain's most promising young drivers as they bid to progress through the sport.

Palmer, who finished runner-up in the 2010 FIA Formula Two Championship, completes the 2011 SuperStars list as the 14th driver to be announced by the BRDC. Among the other candidates are fellow GP2 racer Sam Bird and 2010 McLaren Autosport BRDC Award winner Lewis Williamson, who will compete in GP3 this season.

"We are very happy to announce that Jolyon Palmer joins our SuperStars scheme," SuperStars Director Harvey commented. "We give our line up a lot of consideration, as we are investing in the future.

"Jolyon is clearly a quick, talented driver and we welcome him to the BRDC SuperStars team and look forward to working with him this year."

The BRDC is one of Britain's most prestigious motorsport bodies, and is responsible for the organisation of the British Grand Prix. 1996 Formula One World Champion Damon Hill is the current president, after taking over from triple world champion Jackie Stewart in 2006.
