Jolyon eyes points finish in Valencia

British racer Jolyon Palmer has his sights set on securing his maiden points finish this coming weekend (24-26 June) during the next rounds of the GP2 Series in Valencia.

The 20-year-old rookie from Southwater, West Sussex, has already made a solid start to his debut GP2 season, coming close to recording points finishes on several occasions.

Now Jolyon, son of former Formula One driver Jonathan, is looking forward to tackling the 5.419km Spanish street circuit and breaking his points duck.

"I'm looking forward to Valencia; it will be interesting going to a track I have never raced on before but hopefully I can get up to speed quickly and get some good results," commented Jolyon who finished as runner-up in last year's FIA Formula Two Championship.

After rounds in Turkey and Barcelona, Jolyon's last race took place at the iconic Monaco circuit where he secured a best result of 11th in the weekend's second race after a brake issue in the opening event denied him a likely top 10 finish.

"At Monaco the brake problem in race one cost us a shot at a points finish in both races so hopefully we can have a trouble free weekend at Valencia and pick up some good results," continued Jolyon who races for Arden International. "Hopefully this will give confidence to everyone leading up to this run of races in July which are on circuits that I know a lot better."

Rounds seven and eight of the 2011 GP2 Series take place at Valencia from 24-26 June with full coverage available on Jolyon's official website, www.jolyonpalmer.com. Coverage is also available via Eurosport and on Jolyon's Facebook page.
