F2 television commentary role for Jolyon

After narrowly missing out on the 2010 FIA Formula Two Championship drivers' title to Dean Stoneman, Jolyon Palmer will return to the F2 paddock at Silverstone this weekend (16/17 April) in his new role as race commentator for the championship's live television coverage.

As in 2010, this year's Formula Two campaign begins at the home of the British Grand Prix, and Palmer has fond memories of the circuit after launching his F2 trophy charge with a commanding pole position and his maiden series victory in the opening race last season.

"I'm looking forward to returning to Silverstone," said Jolyon. "Last year was a really strong weekend for me with my first F2 win - it really launched my title bid, and it will be interesting to see who does the same this year.

"It's a tough field this year - I really have no idea who will win the title as it's such an open contest. Some of the British drivers like Alex Brundle, Jack Clarke and Will Bratt have done well in testing, but there are also international drivers like Miki Monras and Mirko Bortolotti who've also looked quick. There's more than ten drivers capable of winning the championship."

Rather than jumping into the cockpit at Silverstone, Jolyon will be picking up a microphone for the first time, as the 20-year-old will be using his expert knowledge of the FIA-backed championship to commentate on this weekend's live television race coverage - available on Motors TV.

"I've never done anything like this before, so I'm really looking forward to giving it a go," Palmer continued. "However, after two years competing in the series I know the car and the drivers really well, and I want to use that deeper knowledge to communicate to the audience."

All 16 F2 races this season will be broadcast live and uninterrupted across Europe on the Motors TV channel in 2011, along with live streaming on the official Formula Two website.

Visit www.formulatwo.com or tune into Motors TV on Saturday at 1.50pm and Sunday at 2.30pm (UK time) to follow Jolyon's commentary.
